51 ladies from across the United States and Taiwan competed in this event and as usual it was a tough field of competitors.  The 16 left standing on Sunday were familiar names as top Hunter Classics Tour finishers.

The surprise of the stop was Sherri Hudson.  She was a qualifier contestant and she lost her first match of the tournament to Nicole Bacon.  She battled her way back through a tough field of competitors with wins over Holly Gilbert (7-1), Connie Turner (7-1), Gail Lave (7-2), Gail Roles (7-0), Lisa Marr (7-3), Sophie Lopez (7-5), Julie Mason (7-5), Orietta Strickland (7-4) and Kim White for her spot in the finals.

Yung-Yi Yan from Taiwan made her way to the finals with wins over Tracy Ward (7-3), Melissa Martinez (7-2), Brenda Plantz (7-3), Julie Stephenson (7-0), Leslie Rogers (7-5) and Kim White.

It was a grand finish in the final race to 11.  Yung-Yi reached the hill first.  She had a chance to win it - but missed a combo on the 9.  That left Sherri with the game - bringing the match hill-hill.  Again it looked like Yung-Yi had the win, but while running out she hooked herself behind the 9 trying to get position for the 7.  She missed hitting the 7, and with ball-in-hand, Sherri ran out for the win.  An exciting and appropriate ending for a great Hunter Classics Tour year.

Sherri Hudson (1st place) and Yung-Yi Yan (2nd)

The top 5 Hunter Classic Tour players of the 2000 season were:
1       Kim White
2       Gail Lave
3       Julie Stephenson
4       Cynthia Ferrer
5       Lisa Marr

The second chance tournament was also an exciting event.  A record breaking 31 ladies participated in this event.  The prize fund was infused with the donations by the World Class pro-player and classy gentleman - Jeremy Jones.  Players and fans paid $5 for a challenge match with Jeremy.  Jeremy in turn donated the $200 he raised to the 2nd Chance Tournament prize fund. Thanks Jeremy!!!

Melinda Bailey the 1998 Hunter Classics Most Improved Player and 2000 LBAF State Championship runner-up played very well to win the winner's bracket of the 2nd Chance Tournament.  Brenda Plantz from Denver, CO made her way through the 1-loss side to the finals with Melinda Bailey.   It was a tough match with both players playing very well.  Brenda Plantz prevailed by winning in the finals.  Congratulations to Brenda for the win, Melinda Bailey for her 2nd place finish and Lucille Donahue for her 3rd place finish.

Lucille Donahue (3rd place), Melinda Bailey (2nd place) and Brenda Plantz (1st place)
